Neocomp is seeking a Field
Network Engineer to work on multiple projects, including a local area network
project for one of our major customers.
For the major project, the
Field Network Engineer must be comfortable working in a team setting with
multiple vendor contractors and facilities engineers, field engineers and
customer management personnel. The main project work will be conducted at multiple
locations within Los Angeles County.

Position Requirements

At least 2 years of demonstrable
experience doing field level network engineering work
*
CCNA or equivalent knowledge and
experience required
*
Experience configuring switches,
repeaters, bridges, routers, Brouters, gateways or CSU/DSUs
*
Experience creating trunking
services/VLANs
*
Experience configuring and
testing DHCP services
*
Demonstrated ability to clearly
document configurations and work progress
*
Ability to travel to different
deployment sites within LA County
*
Must be able to pass a background
check
*
Good teamwork and communication
skills
Duties
*
Inventory equipment and
associated peripheral devices in locations designated by the customer
*
Connect and configure server to
uninterruptible power supply, and switch/hub
*
Connect and configure workstation
to hub/switch
*
Connect and configure switches,
repeaters, bridges, routers, Brouters, gateways, or CSU/DSU's
*
Migrate equipment, software and
associated peripheral devices to other/newer equipment
*
Implement new or
additional customer provided IP address network assignments, including subnet
masks and basic passwords supplied by the customer
*
Create trunking services/VLANs
*
Assign ports to appropriate VLAN
*
Configure ports
*
Configure and test
DHCP services on the all new routers to comply with District’s current DHCP
standard.
*
Configure the host
name using ITD naming convention provided by District on all networking
equipment.
*
Document, using approved format,
all actions taken on site when configuring all components of the network.
*
Document, using the
approved format, IP addresses, serial numbers, equipment descriptions, and
location of all installed equipment.
*
Assist in the preparation of
punch lists.
*
Perform required duties on
additional projects, including network and performance analysis, security,
troubleshooting and network engineering support as required on a customer by
customer basis
